LOVE & VARIATIONS

Themes from the Lives of
Robert Schumann
Clara Wieck Schumann
and Johannes Brahms
Perhaps the greatest and most mysterious love triangle in music history is that of husband and wife Robert and Clara Schumann and their transcendent protegee Johannes Brahms.  Musical and biographical themes from their lives and loves are explored in some of their most intimate song writing and the piano variations both Clara and Johannes wrote on the same theme by Robert.  Musical development and emotional expression evolve and intertwine as we appreciate the craft of the musician, glimpse the inner life of the human being, and come to share the passion that fueled them.

Rita Attrot- piano
Catherine Laub- soprano
